Making Good in Charlotte

The organization and idea of Make a Mark began with Sarah Obenauer in Blacksburg, VA, and has grown to 14 cities worldwide. Nicole Reyes and Kate Micham brought the 12-hour creative make-a-thon to Charlotte in 2018. thanks to the sponsorship of OrthoCarolina. As of 2023, they joined forces with Do Greater Charlotte to continue making the event possible, and even more rewarding for the greater community.

Make a Mark is giving us access to resources we just didn’t have. As a smaller nonprofit, it takes community; it takes support.
— Jennifer Diedrich, A Child’s Place, 2018 Recipient

Our inaugural event at Hygge Coworking was made possible by OrthoCarolina and 33 volunteer makers. Local nonprofits A Child’s Place and Beds for Kids were among the 11 organizations we served.
